CV-11 (1943 - 1982)

Located on the West side of Manhattan at Pier 86 is the dominating sight of the USS Intrepid - one of the most successful ships in US History is now a national historic landmark, and one of the most unique attractions in New York City.

In 1943, this aircraft carrier was commissioned for service in World War II and went on to serve as a primary recovery vessel for NASA and then in Vietnam.

Sadly, we never seemed to find the time to board and enjoy the museum. However, we plan to visit when we come to NYC again.
